Guardianship Program

Our parent dogs are first and foremost beloved family pets. We feel this produces the best parents for our puppies. This is the reason we started our Guardian Program.

From time to time we have a guardian home opportunity from a litter of puppies.

Guardian Homes

Home Is Where The Dog Is

  • Guardian homes allow us to continue our breeding program “Kennel Free”
  • Guardian homes allow our breeding dogs to live as beloved pets in loving homes their entire life.
  • Guardian Families receive a “pick of the litter” puppy at NO COST.

What is a Guardian?

  • A Guardian is a person (or family) who agree to raise and care for a Breeder’s Dog as a loved family pet.
  • L.A. Doodles is the legal owner of the dog for the duration of its breeding career.
  • The Guardian Home provides loving care to the dog for its entire life.
  • L.A. Doodles pays for regular vaccinations and all breeding related veterinary expenses, health testing & exams and all costs involved in the whelping and puppy raising process.
  • Male dog be available 3-4 days a few times a year between 1 – 7 years of age when needed for stud.
  • The female dog would be available to breed between approx. 2 – 5-1/2 years of age. The female dog comes to the breeder for approximately 10 weeks a year for breeding and whelping. Guardian families are welcome to come to our home during this time to visit the Mama and her puppies. When puppies are raised, the female dog returns to its Guardian family. (required to produce three litter)
  • When the dog retires from the program, the dog is spayed/neutered at L.A. Doodles’ expense. The dog is signed over to the Guardian family who then becomes its legal owner.

How Do We Become A Guardian Family?

Step 1.

Fill out and submit a Guardianship Program Application. We want to know about you – write a paragraph or so telling us why you want to become a guardian. Include a description of your family unit, your home, backyard, typical day to day family life, time available to spend with a dog, your dog experience, and anything else you think would help us know you better.

Step 2.

We will contact you via email to set up a time for a phone interview. If we think it’s a good fit, we will continue to Step 3

Step 3.

We would like to meet with potential guardians twice. Once at our home and once at your home. We ask that all family members be available for the visit at your home. The two meetings allow us to review all the commitments that come with guardianship and complete a contract.
